If our guests are happy... we're happy! That's been our philosophy since starting Tipi Algarve in the spring of 2008 and we have constantly been improving the facilities in our valley site to make sure all our visitors have a really great holiday experience. It's taken a lot of time and effort but it's been a true labour of love... largely made possible by the helping hands of our wonderful volunteers who joined us here on working holidays.

We've come a long way since then and Tipi Algarve now offers the following facilities to make your stay even more enjoyable...

Tipi, Yurt & Safari Tent Accommodation
We have two 7.5 metre & two 5 metre North American Tipis, a 6 metre Western Yurt and three 6 metre Safari Tents set up in the valley with plenty of space between them. Inside all of them there is a comfy double bed complete with freshly laundered bedding, cushions, lamps and storage for clothes plus a power supply for laptops, mobile phone chargers etc. Stay connected... internet access is available throughout your stay. Towels are available for hire at €5 per towel for the duration of your stay.



The Yurt also has the option of an open crown to look up at the stars and a cosy woodburning stove if it turns chilly. Extra beds and bedding can be provided for more guests upon request at time of booking. Outside of each Tipi and the yurt is your own individual shaded cooking and dining area with everything you'll need - we provide you with all your kitchen essentials from teapots to teaspoons...

Self Catering
Tipi Algarve is self-catering so you will have your own individual private shaded camp kitchen by your Tipi, Yurt or Safari Tent... these are clean and basic (well it is a camping holiday after all). You have a 2-3-4 gas ring hob, a cool box, a shaded seating area, storage for food, lighting and all the cooking equipment you need (even tea towels) to enjoy alfresco dining!

On our Pizza Nights, we cook outside in our stone baked pizza oven on the terrace. Calvin makes the pizza bases and you get to top your own Pizza with a choice of tasty fresh produce hand picked from our organic garden. Everyone is welcome and it provides a great atmosphere to meet other guests!

'Chill Out' Lounge and sun terrace
Kick back and relax, enjoying a refreshing glass of wine on the terrace whilst the sun goes down. As the evening draws in, have a romantic evening and listen to some chill out tunes gazing up at the stars.
The lounge area and terrace has become a meeting point and landmark on the site as a sociable place to be, as well as a cosy and welcome retreat from a hard day at the beach. We have a table football and pool table. There are plenty of card and board games to amuse the kids, a free selection of books to read, and it's a great place where you can enjoy a peaceful and welcome drink at the end of the day.

Cool off in the Pool! Guests are free to use the swimming pool with sunbathing terrace overlooking the valley next to the main casa just a short walk up the hill. We have sun loungers and comfortable chairs and a shaded area.

Showers & Toilets Our shower and toilet block draws water directly from our natural well, with separate male & female entrances to showers, sinks and flushing loos. In the summer we use a simple solar system of coiled piping on the terraces and a gas boiler for the cooler months to keep your showers hot.

The toilets operate on an ecologically friendly reed bed system, however they work as normal toilets do. We try to use environmentally friendly products wherever possible and encourage our guests to bring their own to use in the shower etc.
Bath towels can be provided at an extra charge of €5 per towel, payable on arrival.
Beach towels are also available at 5 Euros each.

Washing up and washing clothes
Washing up after your meals is done the old fashioned way... you will need to collect the water from the tap and take it back to your camp kitchen. Washing up bowls and water carriers are provided and we ask you to please try to use environmentally friendly products where ever possible. Thanks!
You are welcome to hand wash clothes and washing lines and pegs are provided.

Lighting
Lighting on site at Tipi Algarve is ‘natural’ although each tent has bed side lights ... so please remember to bring a torch for getting around in the dark!

Surrounding area
We are 15 mins from local beaches, 5 mins from the main A22 and 40 mins from a choice of spectacular surfing beaches. The nearest beaches are Priah de Rocha, Priah De Vau and Alvor - see our Beaches page for a comprehensive guide. There are a selection of supermarkets & minimarkets in the area, the closest being 10 mins drive.
We have four local restaurants ranging from cheap & cheerful to the absolutely exquisite.
